Your application must include the following:

• A completed applicant form detailing interest, skills and experiences
• Three professional recommendations
• Unofficial transcripts from each institution attended
  • Failure to list any colleges or universities from which the applicant received a degree or enrolled in graduate coursework may result in dismissal from the university.
  • If transcripts are not in English, the applicant must furnish a translation by an appropriate authority.
  • Applicants will be asked for official transcripts after notification of admission.

The nutrition, dietetics and sensory science master’s degree will prepare you for a variety of academic, industry and government positions within the field of nutrition, including:

• FNDH 880 - Professional Communication in FNDH (1 credit)
• FNDH 897 - Applications in Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health Credits (1-3 credits) Required for coursework option only (minimum 3 credit hours) OR
• FNDH 898 - Master’s Report Credits: 0-18. Required for report option only (2 credits) OR
• FNDH 899 - Master’s Thesis Credits: 1-8. Required for thesis option only (6-8 credits, minimum 6 hours)

• STAT 701 - Fundamental Methods of Biostatistics (3 credits)
• STAT 703 - Introduction to Statistical Methods for the Sciences (3 credits)
• STAT 705 - Regression and Analysis of Variance (3 credits)

Thesis Option
In the thesis option, you will be required to complete a total of 30 credit hours and a final thesis.

Report Option
In the report option, you will be required to complete a total of 30 credit hours and a final report.

• FNDH 898 - Master’s Report (2 credits)

Coursework-Only Option
In the coursework option, you will be required to complete a total of 30 credit hours, and a culminating event that includes a written component and public oral presentation.

• FNDH 897 - Applications in Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health (3 credits)

Additional Requirements (12 Credits)

Additional FNDH courses (minimum 3 credits) at the graduate level are required. The Thesis Supervisory Committee will determine the student’s competency requirements and will work with him/her to select courses that will meet the requirements. The student’s program of study should be approved by the Graduate Studies Coordinator (or designee).

Of the minimum 30 credit hours normally required for the master’s program of study, at least 18 hours should be at the 700 level and above, including the thesis/research and the report/problems hours required by the thesis and report options.
