Elementary Education Bachelor's Degree

All students are required to meet the general university admission requirements.

The elementary education bachelor’s degree will prepare you to become an elementary teacher eligible to teach students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education

After successful completion of this program, you will be eligible to apply for an Initial Teaching License for teaching PK-6 in the state of Kansas. This program is also open to students outside of Kansas. The license will transfer to other states, but completion of additional tests may be required.

The Professional Education Unit at Kansas State University is accredited by the CAEP and the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE).

The university cannot determine whether completion of its teacher education programs will satisfy the licensure requirements of any state or territory other than Kansas. Because state licensure requirements vary and may change over time, it is the student's responsibility to verify the requirements of the state in which they plan to teach. While Kansas State University will work with students to identify appropriate placement opportunities when feasible, the university cannot guarantee the availability, approval, or successful arrangement of field experiences, practicum placements, student teaching assignments, or other clinical experiences outside the State of Kansas. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for the Kansas Initial PK-6 Teaching License. Kansas licensure provides a pathway to teacher licensure in many other states through reciprocity and interstate mobility agreements, though each state establishes its own licensure requirements. Once admitted and enrolled in the elementary education bachelor’s degree, you will be considered a pre-professional education major. You will have to complete additional requirements to be admitted into the full program, known as the professional education major.
