Proficiency in English for Academic Purposes Undergraduate Certificate

All students are required to meet the general university admission requirements.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated English skills for course placement.

If you are interested in the certificate, please contact the program director. Upon submission of evidence that you meet admission requirements, you will be admitted to the program.

Grades of B or higher in all certificate courses is required.

Core Courses (12-18 credits)

You will need to complete one course from each of the four core skill areas OR submit standardized language test scores documenting B2 English proficiency in any areas for which coursework is not completed at K-State.

• DAS 151 - Advanced English Speaking for Non-native Speakers of English (3 credits)

Written English Skills

• DAS 152 - Advanced English Writing I (6 credits)
• DAS 166 - Advanced English Writing III (3 credits)
• DAS 177 - Written Communication for Non-native Speakers of English (3 credits)

English Reading Skills

• DAS 153 - Advanced English Reading I for Non-native Speakers of English (6 credits)
• DAS 163 - Advanced English Reading II for Non-native Speakers of English (3 credits)
• DAS 176 - Reading Skills Non-native Speakers of English (3 credits)

English Listening Skills

• DAS 154 - Advanced English Listening I for Non-native Speakers of English (3 credits)
• DAS 178 - Listening Skills (3 credits)

Special English Skills (3 credits)

If your standardized language test scores documenting B2 level proficiency for any of the core skill areas have been accepted by K-State, classes from the special English skills list may be used toward the certificate.
