Middle School Gifted Facilitator

Manhattan, Kansas

Hometown: Naperville, Illinois

Undergraduate degree: History and Philosophy double major with a minor in German from Kansas State University

Why I chose teaching: I always knew I would like to teach at some point in my life but was never clear on when to start. The real decision to act came during the Covid pandemic. I reorganized my priorities for what I wanted out of life and decided to go for it right away. The pandemic shook up my whole outlook on planning for the future and encouraged me to take action in the moment rather than wait for stars to align in the future.

Why I selected K-State’s MAT program: As a K-State graduate, I was familiar with the University and already trusted it to have the best staff and programs available for what I needed.

Why I’m a unique teacher: My experiences. I have worked on factory floors, high-rise offices, college campuses, and district courtrooms. I have been lucky enough to travel across the world and encounter some of Earth's great treasures. I think it grants me a neat perspective to share with students!

“Thanks to the MAT, I get to do what I love every day. It's just the best! If you know you want to make a change in your life, go for it.”
