Olathe, Kansas

Hometown: Olathe, Kansas

Undergraduate degree: Russian from University of Kentucky

Why I chose teaching: I always was interested in becoming a teacher, so when I entered into the Air Force Reserves, I decided to become a teacher. Some of the most influential people in my life have been teachers, so I wanted to follow in their footsteps.

Why I selected K-State’s MAT program: I selected K-State due to the flexibility it offered between the residence and non-residence track.

Why I’m a unique teacher: My military background and the fact that I am still an Officer in the Air Force Reserves makes me unique, it gives me a very different perspective on life and professionalism than my colleagues.

“Becoming a teacher through alternative certification pathways is not easy, but worth it to reach the goal of a career that one truly loves.”
